Ben Rippleton and Wash Calloway, both black, had a lively set to down on Front street, Newport, opposite the pipe foundry last last night. Ben used a knife but only in succeeded in cutting through his antagonist's coat several times. Wash retaliated by using a poker over Ben's head, which brought the blood freely. No arrests.

Ben Rippleton, colored, was fined $5 and costs in the Mayor's Court of Newport, this morning for disorderly conduct. The fine was remitted on condition he stay away from the colored church on Sundays. This looks mighty rough for Ben.

In Mayor's Court Newport, Ben Rippleton was fined 45 and costs on the charge of raising a row at the colored church on Robert street. The warrant was sworn out for his arrest by several sisters of the church and Ben was arrested last evening in Covington. Immediately after his trial yesterday morning, he swore out a warrant for the arrest of Laura Carter, one of the sisters for calling him a foul name. The acts charged in each of the warrants were committed in the church.

Ben Rippleton was fined $25 and costs by the Newport Mayor yesterday for raising a disturbance in James alley Sunday night.
