A number of colored Democratic voters met Saturday evening at 219 York st. Newport and organized a colored A S Berry Club. The following officers ere elected:

President-Rube Berry
Vice President-Grant Berry
Secretary and Treasurer-James Bell

The club starts off with a membership of 16 and bids fair to cut quite a figure in local politics the coming election.

At a meeting of the Second Ward Precinct A Berry Club, held in Newport Monday night at Bradley's, it was decided to make the organization permanent and headquarters will be secured. There are 115 members now enrolled. Addresses were made by Judge Matt Moore and Attorneys Disken and Gallagher. At the conclusion of the speeches a roast shoat supper was served.
