NEWPORT

BLACK REPUBLICAN BALL-Notwithstanding the restrictions upon the free colored population of our city, they do pretty much as they please. We learn from city officials that the aristocratic portion of them got up a splendid ball on Thursday night last at Kossuth Hall, under the auspices of some of the members of the City Council, who gave their attendance and joined in the festivities.
