County Clerk Joseph M Betz of Newport, received a letter from Nelson Harris of Darrow La. seeking the whereabouts of his uncle, Joseph Wallace, colored. He gave a description stating that he is about five feet in height and walks pigeon toed. There is money coming to him from an estate left by his father.

He came this way in 1863 and in 1878 was with the steamer, U P Schenck. Clerk Betz referred the letter to Chief of Police Smith.
