Major Robinson, 68, a veteran of the Civil War, died yesterday at the family residence, 128 Southgate st. Newport. He is survived by a widow. Major Robinson owned considerable property in Paris Ky. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 pm. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Major Robinson was born Aug 1836 in Paris Ky. He enlisted as a Private in the 72nd US Colored Troops 18 Oct 1864 in Covington. He married Lucinda Reese in 1860 in Bourbon Co Ky as common law since Blacks were not allowed to marry. After Lucinda died, he married Alice Hawkins, daughter of Charles Hawkins in Kentucky and they lived in Newport Ky. On 12 Apr 1890 Major filed for a pension. After he died Alice filed 24 Feb 1908 for this pension as his widow.
