Alfred Biery Jr. who was in the Philippine Islands with the Twenty-fifth United States Infantry, has returned. He is at the home of his father, Tenth and John sts.

Alfred Biery, 42, living at 1010 John st. Newport was struck by a C&O freight train yesterday and severely injured. While walking along the track near the Seventh st. bridge he stepped out of the way of an eastbound freight, not noticing a westbound train approaching. The cow catcher of the latter train threw him to one side, cutting and bruising him about the face and head. He also sustained bodily contusions. He was removed to Speers Hospital in the patrol.

Alfred Biery, who was struck by a C & O train three weeks ago, died of his injuries at Speers Hospital. While returning from a fishing camp near Phoenix Park he was struck by a freight train in trying to avoid a passenger train going in the opposite direction.

Biery was a painter and the Painters and Decorators' Union had charge of the funeral services, which were held at 2 o'clock today at the residence, 1010 John st. Newport. Biery served with the United States troops in Cuba and the Philippines and his father, Albert Biery, is a veteran of the Civil War and is a member of the GAR.
