The upset victory of Walter Pilgrim in the Democratic primary for mayor, a councilman, was a close verdict over Alfred Reekers, who has served as mayor of Dayton for the past 12 years. Mr. Pilgrim polled 609 votes; Mayor Reekers 520 and Frank Schaffield 275.
