ILL-Arthur C Dobbling, head of the A C Dobbling & Son Funeral homes in Bellevue and Ft Thomas, was reported in a serious condition Monday by Speers Hospital attches. The 64 year old funeral director, widely known throughout northern Kentucky, has been said to be under the care of a physician for some time.

SUCCUMBS-Arthur Chester Dobbling, widely known Bellevue and Ft Thomas funeral director, died at 1:25 am Thursday at Speers Hospital, following an illness of about a month. He was 65. Suffering from a heart condition, Mr. Dobbling had been at the hospital since Sunday. His son, Arthur F Dobbling, had been in constant attendance and was with him when he died. Known by his intimates, especially the children of Bellevue whi8th whom he was a favorite, as "Uncle Pat" he had been head of the A C Dobbling & Son funeral home for many years.

Born in Cincinnati he first entered the business as an employee of the Fred A Erschel Sons funeral home, Newport. He came to Bellevue in 1913 and worked with the firm of John A Cunningham, which later was to become the Dobbling funeral home. When Mr. Cunningham died the firm became known as Cunningham & Dobbling. Later Mr. Dobbling took over the remaining part of the business from the relatives of Mr. Cunningham and the establishment became known as the A C Dobbling funeral home home. When his son entered the firm a few years ago the name was changed to its present form.

Mr. Dobbling made his home at the same address as the Bellevue funeral home, 241 Fairfield avenue. His wife, Mrs. Clara Boehme Dobbling died in 1922. A member of many organizations, he was actively associated wit hthe loyalty Council D of A Bellevue; the Newport Masonic Club; the Noah Dove Lodge of Odd Fellows, Newport; Indra Consistory of Kentucky; Grand Lodge of Kentucky, F&AM; Kosair Temple of Louisville; the Blue Grass Aerie of Eagles, Bellevue; Newport Lodge No 273; BPOE, the Fourth-Fifth Ward Civic and Social Club, Dayton and the Spanish American War Veterans.

Besides his son, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Elsie Major in Los Angeles, Calif. and three grandchildren.

RITES-Services for Arthur C Dobbling, prominent northern Kentucky funeral director, will be held at the A C Dobbling & Son funeral home, Ft Thomas at 2 pm Monday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dobbling funeral home in Bellevue between 3:30 and 10 pm Saturday at the Ft Thomas home Sunday and until the funeral hour Monday. Mr. Dobbling, who was 65, died early Thursday at Speers Hospital. He leaves his son, Arthur F Dobbling, with whom he was associated in business; a daughter in law, Mrs. Charlotte Dobbling; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Major, Los Angeles and three grandchildren.

Active pall bearers for the funeral will be Clem Fennell, Clinton Schroeder, Edward Connolly, Jack Ridgeway, Sol Yodtsey, Charles A Meyer, William E Major and Purcell Smith. Six northern Kentucky funeral directors are to serve as honorary pallbearers. They are William Muehlenkamp, George Stetter, Fred Hugenberg, Vilas Tumey, Charles Middendort and George Linnemann. The funeral services will be directed by Matthew Betz and Fred A Erschell Sr. Campbell county funeral directors. Rev William Dern, pastor of St Paul Episcopal Church, Newport, is to officiated. Prayer will be by Rev Charles Grant, pastor of Highland Methodist Church, Ft Thomas.

Members of the Twin City Council No 9, Junior Order, will meet at their headquarters, 821 York street, Newport at 7:30 pm Saturday and go in a body to pay their last respects to Mr. Dobbling at the funeral home.
