DIES AFTER CRASH-Services for August Leonard Helmbold, 18, son of Dr. August Helmbold, former Campbell county coroner, who died Sunday night at General Hospital of injuries suffered Friday in an auto accident, will be held at the A C Dobbling & Son funeral home, Ft Thomas, at 2 pm Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The youth a senior at Highlands High School, Ft Thomas, suffered a skull fracture and and fractures of the right leg and left arm in the accident, which also caused serious injury to two other Ft Thomas youths.
During World War II, the youth had attended the Merchant Seaman Preparatory School He was a member of Chi Sigma Chi, a high school fraternity, and Christ Evangelical Church, Ft Thomas. He made his home with his parents at 4 Bivouse place, Ft Thomas. Besides his father, he leaves his mother, Mrs. Stella Mae Bauer Helmbold and a sister, Miss Beverly Lynn Helmbold He was the grandson of August Helmbold, former mayor of Newport.
The auto was driven by William Snider, 17 of 14 Altamont court, Ft Thomas. It crashed into a pole on Eastern avenue and then hurtled into the Pennsylvania Railroad yards.
