NEWPORT

Prof. Booker T Washington, the famous Principal of the Tuskegee Colored School, will speak in Newport at an early day. In response to an invitation from Rev W F Venable, pastor of the Colored M E Church. Prof. Washington answered that he would include Newport in his proposed lecture tour.

The members of the Booker T Washington Colored Club, of Newport, deny that the club is disbanded as reported, but on the contrary is in a very healthy state of organization, with Nelson Robison as President. The club meets every Thursday night at 507 Central av. and the members declare that they will be heard from at the coming election.

Colored people of Newport will unite in memorial services for Booker T Washington Thanksgiving Day at the Church of God and Saints of Christ, 119 Southgate st.

Rev Edwin Kennedy and Elder W M Jones have made arrangements to give a Thanksgiving dinner at the church Thursday for widows, orphans and the sick negro population of Newport.
