HEWITT'S MARES

Lexington Ky. February 1-John L Smith, manager and trainer for H H Hewitt, prominent Buffalo and New York business man and turf man, today removed his employers 12 brood mares from Melbourne Farm to Longridge Farm.

Melbourne Farm, where for so long the breeding establishment of the late William Sudduth Barnes was located, was a short while ago sold by Mrs. Barnes to a realty company, which will convert it into a suburban residential district. Longbridge Farm formerly was the property of John McClintock but now is owned by John E Madden. It is near the Lexington Country Club on the Maysville road and is not far from the famous Elmendorf Farm, which was established by the late James B Haggin and recently subdivided by his estate.
