FORMER SOLDIER-Charles Grey, formerly a soldier at Ft Thomas, is at Speers Hospital with a badly shattered kneecap, the result of a shot from a gun. Frank Forseills, it is said did the shooting although no arrests were made Friday night. Grey did not reenlisted in the service but recently moved to 211 Linn Street in Cincinnati, with his wife. The wife left the husband claiming she could not stand his cruelty to her and went back to Ft Thomas and took her residence with Forseills and his daughter, on River Road, near the fort.
Grey learned of this and with a friend named Henry Louskamp, went to the fort to Forseills home to get the key to the Cincinnati house from his wife. On being refused admittance upon his knock, he secured a pickax and forced his way and found his wife. He demanded the keys, stating he wanted to sell the furniture and allow her to go her way. Forseills appeared with a shotgun and demanded Grey leave the premises. Grey refused and Forseills fired a shot striking Greys kneecap.
Chief Devereus had Grey removed to a nearby house where his wounds were dressed. The hospital authorities refused to admit him and he was taken to Newport Jail and later to Speers Hospital. Forseills was arrested and taken before Squire M F Donelon Saturday morning.
