Charles Spies

Kentucky Post, Friday, 15 November 1895, page 7

Thomas Yorke was placed on trial this morning in Newport before Judge Helm and a jury for the killing of Charles Spies on the night of Aug 3 by stabbing him on the Bellevue sandbar. Yorke is represented by Judge T M Hill and Butler Hawkins, while Prosecutor Lockhart and Attorney Ramsey Washington are conducting the prosecution.

The defense will set up a claim that Spies fell on his own knife instead of being stabbed by Yorke.
