Clary Grave Site

aka Morris Chapel Cemetery

Lickert Road off U.S. 27

Claryville

This cemetery was located and walked originally by Buck Seibert in the 1970s.  It is located 50 yards west of the first bend in Lickert Road north of intersection with old State Route 4. The area is 50 sq. ft and is covered with ground ivy and small trees. One headstone was found broken off lying on the ground. Several field stone markers are said to be in the area but due to vegetation are covered.

Site was visited by Buck Seibert on March 30, 2007.

Much has changed since the original report on this site. A new driveway has been built in the area and a path has been cleared to the Subdivision Site to the North. A talk with the owner revealed that the headstone for Johnnie Clary had been moved from it’s original location to protect it. Eventually it was returned to the general location of the grave.

The stone was located and photographed. A GPS reading was taken at the present location of the stone. No other stones were located.
