At a Court held for Campbell County on the 5th September 1796 at the House of Jacob Fowler in the Town of Newport.

An Indenture of Bargain and sale from the Trustees of Newport of the one part to John Waller & John Cook of the other part was certified according to Law & Ordered to be recorded.

On the motion of William Lightfoot, John Grant, Charles Daniel and Squire Grant or any 2 of them are appointed Commissioners to perpetuate testimony for the establishment of the beginning of an Entry in the name of Isaiah Isaacs for 5000 Acres lying on the South side of Main Licking Creek beginning at 2 Buckeyes on the Bank of Licking.

An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from the Trustees of Newport to Elie Williams and Daniel Mayo was acknowledged by the said Trustees and Ordered to be recorded.

An Indenture of Bargain & Sale from same to Nathan Kelly was acknowledged by the Trustees & ordered to be recorded.

Page 59-An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from the Trustees of the Town of Newport of the one part to Archibald Brown of the other part was acknowledged by the said Trustees & ordered to be recorded. An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from same to same was acknowledged by the said Trustees & Ordered to be recorded.

An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from same to John Brasher was acknowledged by the said Trustees & Ordered to be recorded.

A Report being made & returned on John Ewing's Mill & allow'd by the Court it is ordered to be recorded which Report states that the Jurors find that the Land which will be overflowed by the Mill are the property of Matthew Glaves & that ? are worth 20/ pr Acre & that the navigation or passage of fish will not be affected thereby.

The Sheriff upon a Writ of ad quod damnum to him directed issued at the prayer of William Downard to ascertain whether he should be allow'd to erect a Water Grist Mill on Blanket Creek he owning the Lands on both sides of said Creek returned thereon that he had executed the said Writ & the Report of the Jurors was read & the prayer of the said Downard granted & the Court ordered that the said Report should be recorded the substance whereof is as follows: That the Jurors are of opinion that the acre wanted is worth 27/4 and the Lands damageable by the building of the dam worth likewise 27/4 pr Acre that the health of the Neigh(b)ours; the navigation & fishing in the Creek will not be ? & that no dwelling House Orchard Garden or office will be affected thereby.

On the motion of John McClanahan Ordered that at his Cost a Writ of ad quod damnum to be executed on the lst October next be issued according to Law returnable to next Court to ascertain whether he ought to have leave to erect a Water Grist Mill upon the Lands on which he now lives.

An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from the Trustees of Newport of the one part to James McClure of the other part was acknowledged by said Trustees & ordered to be recorded.

An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from same to same was acknowledged by said Trustees and ordered to be recorded.

An Inventory and appraisement of the Estate of Hugh Swan dec'd was presented in Court & ordered to be recorded.

On the Motion of Charles Morgan he is allowed to build a Water Grist Mill on 3 Mile run emptying into Licking it appearing to the Court that he owns the Lands on both sides of said Run & as high up as the water will flow by building said Mill.

Ordered that Jane Cloud act as Guardian of the following Orphans, Children of William Cloud dec'd viz Baylis Cloud, Sarah Cloud, Leah Cloud, Peggy A Cloud, William Cloud & Daniel Cloud, she with John Jones her Security having entered into & acknowledged a Bond in the penalty of 600 Dollars conditioned as the Law directs.

Ordered that the Sheriff pay John Dehart L2-8 out of the County depositum in his hands of the last year.  The Sheriff upon a Writ of ad quod damnum to him directed at the motion of William DeCoursey to ascertain whether he should be allowed to erect a Water Grist Mill on DeCoursey Creek he owning the Lands on both sides of said Creek returned thereon that he had executed the same & therewith the Inquest of the Jurors under their hands and Seals which being read & the prayer of the Said William granted the Court directed the Said Inquest to be recorded the substance of which is as follows.

The Jurors on the 25th of August set apart 10 Acres above the Dam on both sides of the Said Creek for the use of the Mill to be erected.

The Sheriff upon a Writ of ad quod damnum to him directed on the . motion of Jacob Foster to ascertain whether he should be allowed to erect a Saw Mill and Grist Mill on Bank Lick Creek he claiming the Lands on both sides of said Creek returned thereon that he had executed it & there with the Inquest of the Jurors under their hands & seals which being read & the prayer of the said Jacob granted thereon the said Inquest was ordered to be recorded the substance of which is as follows. The Jurors on the 25th August set apart 6 Acres valued at 3/ per Acre above and below the Mill Seats & on both sides of the Creek for the use and convenience thereof.

Page 63-On the motion of Thomas Clark It is Ordered that a License be granted to him to Keep a Tavern in this County for one year the Said Thomas having with his Security entered into & acknowledged a Bond conditioned as the law directs.

A Catalogue of Persons who had failed to give in their Lists of taxable property being returned by the Commissioner according to Law - Ordered that the Clerk issue Process against the several Delinquents to cause them to appear at the next County Court to answer for their default aforesaid.

Ordered that William Edwards attend at the Clerks office to execute an Indenture of Apprenticeship with the Clerk of this Court the subject of the said Indenture being John Leonard an Infant born 13 February 1794.

Ordered that John Grant, Charles Daniel, Ellison Williams and William Daniel or any three of them being first duly sworn act as Viewers to mark out the nearest & best way from said Grants Mill to Wilmington & from thence to Ellison William's on the head of Bank Lick & make Report of the conveniences & inconveniences of the said intended Road to the next County Court.

Page 64-Ordered that Thomas Johnson, Benjamin Archer, George Kelly and William German or any three of them being first duly sworn act as Viewers to mark out the nearest and best way from Newport to Wilmington and make Report of the conveniences and inconveniences of the said intended Road to the Next Court.

Ordered that Jesse Bracking, Bartlet Harrington and Archibald Reed being first duly sworn act as Viewers to mark out the nearest and best way from Wilmington to said Reeds & make Report of the conveniences & inconveniences of Said intended Road to the next Court.

An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from the Trustees of Newport of the one part to Henry Brasher of the other part was proved by the Oaths of Charles Morgan, John Brasher and John Points Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be recorded.

Page 65-An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from Same to same was prov'd by same Witnesses and Ordered to be recorded.

An Indenture of Bargain and Sale from same to James Smith was acknowledged by said Trustees & Ordered to be recorded.

An Inventory and appraisement of the Estate of Samuel Perry dec'd was presented in Court and Ordered to be recorded.

Ordered that Jacob Fowler, James McClure, David Lewis, Joseph Robinson and Thomas McCollum or any three of them being first duly sworn act as Viewers instead of the former Viewers ordered to mark out the Road from Henry Pickles to intersect the George Town Road agreeable to the former Order & make report thereof t the next Court.

Ordered that it be certified to his excellency the Governour that it is the opinon of this Court that Charles Morgan is qualified to discharge the office of Magistrate in this County.

Page 66-A list of removals and Insolvents in this County was returned to Court allowed & ordered to be Certified.

Ordered that Henry Brasher and James Miller Superintend the election of a Member to Congress and that John Brasher act as Clerk.
