Donald James McClure
 

Donald James McClure was born 20 Aug 1921 in Dayton Ky. to James and Margaret McClure. He enlisted in the Army from Cincinnati on 13 Oct 1942. Sergeant Donald McClure served with the 213th Base Unit, at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho.

On 9 Feb 1945, while on a return flight from Utah, B-24J Liberator #42-100050 collided with fog-shrouded 9,265-foot Mt. Harrison, 35 miles southeast of Burley, Idaho.

The crash killed all nine airmen aboard. The aircraft was never removed from the mountainside. A memorial service was held on 29 July 2004 to dedicate a plaque honoring those who died.

Legion services for Sgt. Donald McClure, 23, who was killed in an airplane crash, will be conducted at 1:30 pm Sunday at the Vonderhaar and Stetter funeral home, 335 E Third Street, Newport, by members of the Edward Boers Post, American Legion, Bellevue.
