BELLEVUE-The parents of Edward Boers of 223 Poplar st. were much worried over the fate of their son, who is a yeoman on the fates gunboat Bennington, until a telegram was received last night, stating he was alive and well. He did not state how he escaped but his father thinks as he often accompanied Capt. Jucien Young ashore, he was one of the boat crew that landed a few minutes before the explosion. Boers enlisted in the Navy about three years ago and is about 23.

BELLEVUE-Christian Boers, received a letter yesterday from his son, Edward, a seaman on the gunboat Bennington, who was slightly injured by the explosion, July 21. The letter, was dated the 20th instant and mailed the 21st, the day on which the accident occurred. The family expect another letter today, telling of his injuries, which are said to consist of slight scalds and cuts.

LETTER-A long delayed letter from Edward Boers, who was on the ill-fated Bennington, states that he is uninjured. The letter was dated at 4 pm the day of the explosion, but through delay of the mails it was several days behind time. Boers has but recently passed an examination for yeoman.

QUOTA-The campaign to purchase the "Old Kentucky Home" has opened in Bellevue with Edward W Boers in charge, as chairman of the committee. The drive will close Saturday and Boers expects Bellevue to have exceeded its quota before that time.

PARIS ARCH-One hundred and fifty Cincinnatians were among the 20,000 Legionnaires who marched yesterday back into the hearts of France. Under the Arch of Triumph they marched, Among those seen under the arch were Edward Boers, who wears the Congressional Medal of Honor for bravery.

MILITARY RITES-A military funeral will be held Friday afternoon at Vine st. Cemetery, Cincinnati, for Edward W Boers, 45, of 910 Seventh av. Dayton. Rev Carroll Lewis, chaplain of the Robert E Bentley Post, American Legion, will officiate. Boers died Tuesday at the Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, following an operation for a stomach disorder. He had been ill for several months.

Services will be held Friday at the 2:30 pm at Christ Church, Cincinnati, with Rev Frank Nelson. Boers was one of two men in this section of the country to hold a Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest honor offered by the United States for a deed of bravery in military service. He received the medal in July 1905, after he had rescued several seamen from the hold of the USS Bennington following an explosion in the boiler room.

Boers was a member of the Henry Barnes Lodge of Masons, Dayton; Douglas Lodge, Knight of Pythias, Dayton and Newport Lodge of Elks. The Elks will meet Thursday at 7:30 pm at St Paul Episcopal Church parish home, Newport and proceed in a body to Boers home to hold service.  Boers is survived by his widow, his mother, three brothers and four sisters.

Pallbearers for the funeral will be John E Hendrixson, Commander Bentley Post; Past Commander R Rexford Shaffer, William E Handley, chef de gare of head of the "Forty and Eight" W A Burlingame, Dr. W H Hatcher and Frank Wuest, all members of the Council of Bentley Post. A guard of honor from the Ft Thomas military post will attend the funeral. The guard will consist of Company F, the 10th Infantry Band and a squad of buglers commanded by Lt. Donald W Brann.

WILL-Edward W Boers, 910 Seventh av. Dayton, World War hero, according to terms of his will, leaves his entire estate to his widow, Elsie. The will was drawn June 12, 1922.
