A horse driven by Edward Ball, rural route mail carrier, became frightened yesterday at Mentor Ky and ran away, upsetting the mail wagon and throwing Ball out. He was slightly bruised, the horse was later captured.

There was a free for all fight Saturday night at Alexandria Ky when certain members of the Council of Defense are said to have attempted to collect funds in the War Chest campaign. It is said when certain citizens refused to contribute to the fund to the extent of expectations the word, “pro-German” was passed and a fight followed.

James Nelson, 35, Flagg Springs is in Speers Hospital. He was struck on the head with a chair. George Tarvin, Edward Ball and Matt McArthur were also slightly injured. It is said a number of persons jumped through windows and other exits in an effort to make a getaway from the fight that started in the courthouse at the county seat. Members of the Council of Defense refused to discuss the fight.

Campbell co will be more than 200 per cent in the United War Work campaign, as indicated by returns now received and tabulated. Edward Ball, Carthage, with a quota of $645 for his team, sent in subscriptions of $745. There were only 15 residents of the town who did not subscribe for the fund.

Hubbard Schwartz, Dayton’s city solicitor passed a resolution directed at the bon commission. The resolution calls upon them to give $1 worth of public roadway for every 100 cents voted. The resolution drawn by Schwartz, Edward E Ball and Samuel Sprague and Lawrence T Rechtin.

Articles of incorporation of the California and Beech Grove School Welfare Association were filed Tuesday with the Campbell co clerk. The company was organized after residents of both California and Beech Grove school districts voted in favor of consolidating the two districts into one and for the erection of a modern school building in California.
