NEWPORT


Edward Halpin, 44, who was adjudged of unsound mind several days ago and was removed to St Elizabeth Hospital, afterward being returned to the Newport Jail, was found dead in his cell yesterday morning.

During the flood he was taken to the hospital, but became so violent that the attendants could not control him and he was returned to the Newport Jail. Coroner Digby decided that death was due to inanition, super induced by dementia. The deceased leaves a wife and several children.
