Kentucky Post, Thursday, 3 January 1907, page 5

NEW-Officers at Ft Thomas today confirmed the report that Col. Edwin B Bolton would be the new Colonel of the Fourth Infantry. The appointment has been made but as Bolton is in the wilds of Alaska, he will not know of his promotion until the last of February. Col. Bolton has been in the Tenth Infantry and is not at Ft Gibbons. He is from Mississippi and was admitted to West Point in 1871. He was second Lieutenant in the Twenty-third Infantry in 1875 and was promoted to First Lt. in 1884. He was a Captain in 1891 and was transferred to the Sixteenth in 1900. He was Lt. Colonel of the Sixteenth in 1903.
