Beall Family Fire

Cincinnati Enquirer, 5 November 1873, page 5

A Farm house on Owl Creek, in this county, a short distance this side of Alexandria, was burned to the ground on Monday afternoon at about two o'clock. The family which occupied it, named Beall, were in the field gathering corn at the time and before they reached the house, the roof was falling in, so that they saved nothing beyond a couple of feather beds and a few articles.

The house belonged to Dr. Philip Gander and was valued at about $600. The cause is supposed to have been a defective flue.
