Bad Fire in Newport
This morning about 5:30 o'clock Geo Holmes stable on Orchard st. between Mayo and Ringgold, Newport, caught fire from an unknown cause. Three horses, some wagons, provender, etc. belonging to W C Standish, the tenant, were consumed and the stable badly damaged.
Martha Lumpkins house, adjoining was also partially burned. Total loss about $2500.
