Edward Leinart Fire

Kentucky Post, Tuesday, 27 January 1903, page 5

The home of Edward Leinart, four miles south of Newport on the Alexandria Pike, was destroyed by fire at 8 pm Monday night. The mother of Leinart started a fire in the grate in the front room at 7 pm while the family was in the dining room. Coals fell to the floor setting fire to the carpet.

The neighbors made up a volunteer department and succeeded in saving some of the furniture. The house with several greenhouses, was totally destroyed, the loss being about $3500, which is partially covered by insurance. Leinart will rebuild as soon as the weather permits.
