Foster Caseman was born in 1841 in Hamilton Co. Ohio, the son of Jacob and Lydia (Hayes) They lived at Tibbatts Cross Roads in Grants Lick, KY. Foster enlisted in the 23rd Kentucky Infantry 4 Dec 1861 at Camp King, near Covington KY.

September 19, 1863 marked the first day of the two-day Battle of Chickamauga in northern Georgia. It was the largest and bloodiest fight in the western theater of the Civil War snd the second deadliest in the war, behind only Gettysburg.
It was also the mist dangerous to the Campbell County men I’m studying, with 6 killed, 18 wounded, and 8 captured. Most of these were in the 15th Kentucky and 23rd Kentucky Infantry Regiments.

Foster was buried in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Hamilton County, Tennessee.
