Frederick Charles and Dorothea Ampfer

Frederick Ampfer I was born 1822-23 in Württemberg, Germany and married Dorothea Walter 24 June 1850, (marriage bond at the Alexandria Courthouse) and died 18 Mar 1919 in Carthage.  He was a farmer and was granted citizenship in Campbell County May 23, 1853.  He owned 32 acres in Carthage.  The 1860 census listed the value of his land at $1,000 and personal property at $400. The 1870 census listed his residence in Amelia/Richmond, OH, and his occupation as Saloon Keeper, real estate owned-$2,500 and personal property-$150.

His mother was Anna Ampfer born 1796 in Germany and emigrated to the United States September 5, 1864 on the ship Germania and was living with Frederick in the 1870 census.

Dorothea Walter was born between 1818-1820 in Germany and died March 1899 in Carthage.

Frederick Charles Ampfer II was born to Frederick Charles and Dorothea Walter 29 May 1855 in Campbell County.  Occupation: Farmer & worked for RR
 (1860 & 1870 census birth year approx.1855) He married: 3 Feb 1880 Mary K Koetting at St. Joseph Church, Camp Springs, KY and died 16 Apr 1942 at 86 years old. Buried at Alexandria Cemetery.

1910 census listed his residence on Ohio Rim Road off Washington Trace Rd in Campbell County, next door to his daughter Mame and her husband Clarence Brauley.

He served in US Army from May 28, 1918 to Mar 4, 1919 and was honorably discharge on Mar 23, 1919. He died a few weeks later with the Flu and is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Camp Springs, KY.

Frederick "Fritz" Charles Ampfer III was born to Frederick Charles and Mary H Koetting, 25 July 1882.  His occupation was a farmer.  His first marriage was 29 Nov 1911 to Laura E Beal.  His second marriage was to May Wiley.  He died 9 May 1960 at 78, buried at Alexandria Cemetery.

Lived with father in 1910 and later in Oneonta off  KY 1996.

Laura E. Beal (1st wife & mother of children) born: 1884; died: 2 Mar 1917 at age 32 with Breast milk fever.  She is buried with son Louis at St. Joseph Cemetery in Camp Springs, KY. Picture of Laura hanging at grandpas house.

Born: April 26, 1914; married June 12, 1941 Marie Tekla Oldiges; Served in WWII: Dec 31, 1942 through Oct 29, 1945;  died: Nov 30, 1984 at age 70. Buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cold Spring.
He was drafted in the US Army (Dec 31, 1942) and fought on the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theater in the 90th Chemical Mortar Battalion. He won 3 Bronze Battle Stars and a Good Conduct medal. Hobbies: Building bird houses and puzzles.
