KILLED-Tech S George H Fausz, 21, son of Mrs. Mary Fausz, 29 W 12th street, Newport, was killed May 17 in action on Luzon, according to notification received by his mother. Formerly an employee of Palm Bros. Cincinnati, he entered the service 28 months ago and was overseas 26 months.

Besides his mother, he leaves two brothers in the service, Pfc. Andrew in Germany and Pfc. Albert Fausz, in the South Pacific and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Harding, Newport.

The Purple Heart, a letter from Gen. MacArthur and information concerning the bravery of her son, Tech 5 George H Fausz, from the commanding officer of his unit has been received by Mrs. Mary Fausz, 29 W 12th street, Newport.

Tech Fausz was killed on Luzon May 17. He was a member of a forward observer group, including an officer and three other men, which had moved up to a hill northeast of Balete Pass May 16. They had dug foxholes to observe from and sleep in. The group had fired several missions during the day and night of the 16th and were firing a mission on the afternoon of the 17th.

Tech Fausz was wounded critically by fragments from a mortar shell that struck a tree near the foxhole and burst. He died a few minutes later. There of the party's members were killed. They were buried at Santa Barbara Luzon.

Mrs. Fausz has two other sons in the service. They are Albert in the South Pacific and Andrew in Germany. Tech Fausz had been overseas 28 months.

DEATH-Services for George H Fausz, technician fifth grade, son of Mrs. Mary Fausz, 29 W 12th street, Newport, will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday at the Muehlenkamp funeral home, Newport. Military services will be conducted by the James Wallace Costigan Post, American Legion at the grave in Evergreen Cemetery. The solder was killed in action May 17, 1945 on Luzon, Philippine Islands. He was 24 at the time of death.

Besides his mother, he leaves two brothers, Andrew, California Ky. and Albert, Newport; and a sister Mrs. Lillian Harden, Newport.
