CIVIL WAR VETERAN-Funeral services for George C Keene, 80, of 1019 Windsor av. Walnut Hills, founder of George C Keene & Co. roofing machinery manufacturers, will be held at W Mack Johnson funeral home, McMillian st. and Upland pl. Saturday at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Newport. He died Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital, following an operation for appendicitis.
During the Civil War Keene enlisted in the Kentucky Volunteers tho only 14. At the close of the war he entered the employ of the G H Robinson Co. manufacturers of stamping industry. n 1881 he founded the business he headed at death. A son, Alfred C Keene, Cincinnati and two daughters, Mrs. John F Opp and Mrs. Isaiah V Guy, both of Ft Thomas, survive. Mrs. Opp is in Miami Fla.
