PROMOTION-Gilbert Jeff, son of Mrs. Mattie Jett, 33 W Fifth street, Newport, has been promoted to the rank of Corporal. Inducted into the Army in February, he received his basic training at Ft McClellan, Ala. and was transferred to Camp Cooke, California.
At present he is completing three months of maneuvers in the Death Valley Desert in California.
