Hugh Knox Rachford was born 18 August 1815 in Covington, then Campbell Co, Kentucky, the son of Hugh K & Sarah (Kercheval) and became one of Campbell County's earliest doctors. He married Eliza Jane Beall, 31 May 1848 in Campbell County. She was the daughter of Samuel Josiah Beall and Elizabeth Ann Kennedy.

Hugh Knox Rachford married Sarah Kercheval 22 June 1812 in Campbell Co. Hugh K Rachford was born in 1794 and died 5 Mar 1874 in Brown Co Oh. He was the son of Alexander and Mary (McDonald)

At a meeting of the Democracy of Campbell county, held at Alexandria on County court day, Geo R Fearrons was called to the Chair and A S Berry appointed Secretary. The object of the meeting to be the appointment of delegates to the State Convention, to be held at Frankfort on the ninth day of January, 1860, to elect delegates to the National Convention to be held at Charleston.

On motion, a committee was appointed by the chair to nominate delegates from each precinct in the county. Dr. H K Rachford offered resolutions.

At a meeting of the Democracy of Campbell county, held pursuant to notice at the court house in Alexandria, on Monday, February 4, 1867, Doctor H K Rachford was called to the Chair and R W Nelson appointed secretary. The committee appointed for the purpose recommended the following names, who were unanimously appointed to the District Convention;

Alexandria-Dr. H K Rachford, Dr. Harris, Dr. John Orr, James White, Ben Beall, David Shaw, R W Nelson, Judge J H Nelson, G W Carmack.

Hugh Knox Rachford died 3 May 1891 in Alexandria and was buried in the Alexandria Cemetery. Eliza Jane (Beall) Rachford died 17 Jan 1884 and was buried in the Alexandria Cemetery.
