DUTY-Pvt. James R Ahrens Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry O'Dowd of 817 Dayton street, Newport, is undergoing specialized training at the Presidio, Monterey, Calif. after a recent leave at his home. Pvt. Ahrens is a 1957 graduate of Newport Public High School. He took basic training at Ft Knox, Ky. before being assigned to the California base.
