KIA-Pfc. James L Knox, 23, son of Mrs. Pearl Beard, of 111 W Third street, Newport, and of James Knox Sr. of 116 W Seventh street, Newport, was killed in action Dec 25 in Luxembourg, according to a War Department telegram. An infantryman, he had been overseas 17 months and in the Army since December 1942. His stepfather, Clarence Bear, recently was assigned to overseas duty.
