Services for James L Young, 86, Civil War veteran, who died Friday at the National Military Home, Dayton, will be held at the Christian Church, California Ky. Sunday morning.

Young, for many years a resident of California, was widely known in Cincinnati because of his political activities and his position in the tobacco industry here. He was an outstanding figure when Cincinnati was a large tobacco center.

Funeral services for James L Young, 86, formerly of California Ky. who died Friday at the National Military Home Hospital, Dayton O. were conducted at Beech Grove Cemetery, California. Young took an active interest in al current events and political matters up until September 1, last when he was taken ill.

The decedent was a writer for the old Kentucky Journal, published by J J Hetch of Newport and a veteran of the Civil War, having been wounded in the Battle of Shiloh at Pittsburg Landing. He is survived by three sons, C E Young, Cincinnati; J C Young of Columbus and A Carlisle Young of Troy O. and one sister Mrs. Mollie Tarvin of California.
