On April 25, 1826, there appeared personally, in open court, by the Legislative of the State of Kentucky, James Perkins, a resident of Campbell County, Kentucky, who being the age of 67 years past; who being first duly sworn according to law, stated and swore that he had first enlisted in the state of New York in the year 1776. He stated that having no one to support but himself, he could at all times command by industry enough money to support himself. But he states that due to his present advanced age, he is deprived of the use of his physical powers and sight and feels the need of his country for his living.

I, James Taylor, of the county aforesaid, do certify that the said James Perkins did serve in the War of the Revolution as stated in the preceding declaration, for the term of the 9 months, and also that the oaths are true to form.

Newport, Kentucky June 7, 1826: At the request of James Perkins, I forward the declaration in order to obtain a pension. Please forward the certificate if everything is satisfactory.

Honorable James Harlow, In the matter of the claim of James Perkins for a pension, Colemanville, Dennison County, May 5, 1834

Dear Sir: I have sent you this old certificate which will inform you that this has gotten so old and dim that it can not be read. Send him a new one when it is recorded.
