Court Order Book 1, Page 177, June 1813

Ordered that Frank Spilman, Nicholas Cherry, Lowden Carrol and Jacob White or any 3 of them being 1st sworn before a Justice of the Peace of the County do appraise in Current Money, the slaves, if any & personal Estate of Jeremiah York, deceased & make report thereof to Court.

Alexandria, Courthouse

Jesse York, age 15 years 10th day of October next and Polly York, aged 14 years 22nd day of September next, came into court and with the approbation of the court made choice of Matthew Jenkins as their guardian and it is ordered that said Matthew Jenkins be appointed guardian to Jeremiah York and Rachel York, infant heirs of Jeremiah York, decd, whereupon the said Matthew Jenkins together with Thomas Carle and James Hamer his securities executed and acknowledged bond in the penal sum of $500. condition as the law directs.
