Patrolman Jerry Fitzsimmons, of the Newport Police Department, has notified Chief of Police Lickert that he has resigned. Fitzsimmons some weeks ago was suspended for conduct unbecoming an officer and was notified to appear before the Police and Fire Board.
Last night the suspended patrolman handed in his uniform and announced that he would not go before the Commissioners.
