RIVER TRAGEDY-A verdict of accidental death by drowning was given by Dr. Leo C Sauter, Campbell County coroner, Tuesday, in the death of Jobe Poston, 77, whose body was taken from the Licking River in Newport Monday. Four boys who were hunting for rabbits on the river bank discovered the body hooked on a snag in the river near the 11t Street Bridge.
Walter Poston, 426 Keturah street, a son of the victim said the drowned man lived in a shack at the foot of Fourth Street, Newport. He said his father had visited him Sunday afternoon and was in good spirits and apparently in good health. Dr. Sauter said apparently Mr. Poston slipped and fell down the steep bank into the river while on a hunt of scrap material. The Betz funeral home, Newport, is in charge of arrangements.
