The following letter was dated at Covington on February 13, 1829. Sir: I enclose you a claim for pension. I fear that the proceedings may not be so regular and I fear the evidence is not of a favorable king. He has not only evidence of two old widows who await to live with him. I have no interest or importance in this. {signed} Jefferson Phelps Anthony Garrett appeared personally at the age of 49 years, before Justice of the Peace, to show that he is acquainted with John McGlasson, and he said that he has been a private in the Revolution and that he had not heard from any one that the said John McGlasson had not served in the War of the Revolution. On account of the absence of Dr. Neal Rouel, I Dr. Thomas Eubanks, examined John McGlasson and found him to be totally blind from old age or some weak organ. He is unable to walk without the assistance of attention from others, and is unable to attend to his business. The loss of sight, therefore may have come from the wound in his shoulder.
