Joseph George Herman
Joseph George Herman was born 13 April 1886 in Newport to Joseph Strobel Herman and Caroline (Carrie ) Blesch. He was the seventh of nine children, two of whom died in childhood. He was a multi sport player in boxing during the 1905-06 season.
He married Beatrice Bluebell Beyland in Bellevue 8 Dec 1915. They had two children. Bettina Joyce who had 4 children and Edward Robert who had seven children.
In his political life he served two separate
terms as mayor of Newport, Kentucky. The first 1920-1924 and the second
1936-1940. Between terms he often served as commissioner. His career was in
civil engineering and he lived his entire life in Newport Kentucky.
