Kathleen Walsh

 

Sister Kathleen Walsh, CDP, died on 15 Nov 2012 at Holy Family Home in Melbourne.  She was 79 years of ag and a professed member of the Congregation of Divine Providence for 58 years.  Catherine Walsh was born 28 Oct 1933 in County Tipperary Ireland and was the third of five children born to William and Mary Ann Walsh.

Her parents, a brother and a sister proceeded her in death.  She is survived by two sisters, Brede Finnegan and Josie Goodman both in Ireland, several nieces, the Sisters of Divine Providence and some wonderful Irish friends.

Sister Kathleen grew up in Ireland and ventured to the United States with fifteen other young Irish women to enter the Congregation of Divine Providence in October of 1950, made her first profession of vows in 195 and professed her final vows in 1959.  Her forty six years of ministry were in various forms of community service.  She ministered in Seminaries in Washington DC, Providence RI and Catonsville MD and served her religious community in ministries in Martin and Lexington KY, New York and the Provincial House in Melbourne.  She retired from active ministry in 2000 and continued to be in service at Holy Family Home.
