NEWPORT
The sad intelligence was received here yesterday of the death of
Mrs. John C Childs, nee Katie Bennett at Rome Ga. The deceased was a former well
known school teacher here and during her residence here became crippled by
rheumatism, causing the knee cap to slip from its natural position and adhere to
the shin bone.
A few days ago an operation was performed to relieve her of the trouble, which resulted in her death. Her remains will be brought to the home of her mother, Mrs. M H Bennett, at 812 York street and will arrive here this evening.
