OHIO RIVER YIELDS BOY'S BODY-Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9 am Monday at St Stephen Church, Newport, following prayers at the Vonderhaar & Stetter funeral home, Newport, for Lawrence "Larry" Bittner Jr. 15, a copy boy for the Kentucky Post, who was drowned Thursday in the Ohio River at the foot of Clark street, Dayton. Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery, Johns Hill, Campbell county.
The youth was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bittner, of 623 Monroe street, Newport. His body was found Friday night in the Ohio River in the rear of 223 Eden avenue, Bellevue. Four Bellevue boys who were swimming in the Ohio River Friday night discovered the body. They are Thomas McGee, of 12 Mesh Avenue; Donald Hall, of 271 Foote avenue; Joseph Gross of 265 Foote avenue, and Albert Bricking of 223 Eden avenue.
Dr. Leo Sauter, Campbell county coroner, returned a verdict of accidental drowning. The youth had been working at the Kentucky Post for 11 months and had previously been employed at the Cincinnati Post. His father is a printer for the Cincinnati Post.
