NEWPORT-Mrs. Margaret Merrill, widow of Col. Merrill, who for years was a resident of this city, and who was for so long identified with Government work in and about Cincinnati, has gone to visit her son Capt. Thomas Merrill, at his post; near Boston.
Capt. Merrill, who has not been long from the Philippines, has recently been promoted in the artillery services.

NEWPORT-Thomas Merrill, 22, and Della Reese; both of Maud's Station O. were married in Newport Monday afternoon. The license was secured July 29 and the young couple was anxious to keep it out of the papers. For that reason they waited for some days to be married. The mother of the bride accompanied the couple.
