W T and Catherine Arnold filed a petition in the Circuit Court in Newport Friday for the adoption of a child named Mary Preston, aged 11 years. Both parents of the child are dead. The mother died about five years ago and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold have had charge of her child ever since.
