NEWPORT-Matthew Gill, aged 68, died last night at his home, 808 Maple avenue, after a lingering illness. The deceased and his two brothers were members of John Morgan's Confederate Cavalry and took part in his famous raids.

He had been a resident of Newport for nearly half a century. The funeral will take place Monday morning and burial will be at St Stephen Cemetery.

MORGAN RAIDER-Matthew Gill, 68, died last night at his home, 808 Maple-ave, Newport, after a lingering illness. The deceased and his two brothers were members of John Morgan’s Confederate Cavalry and took in his famous raids. He had been a resident of Newport for nearly half a century. The funeral will  take place Monday morning with services at the Immaculate Conception Church and burial will be at St Stephen Cemetery.
