NEWPORT SOLDIER-The body of Pvt. Melvin C Selzer, 21 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Selzer, 1107 Central avenue, Newport, who died Monday at Langley Field, Va. is to arrive here later Wednesday. Services will be held at the John J Radel funeral home, Newport, at 1:30 pm Thursday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Members of his family have not learned the cause of the young soldiers death. They received a letter from him Monday and on the same day a message arrived telling of his illness. Word of Pvt. Selzer's death came a short time later. He had been in the Army seven months. Besides his parents he leaves one sister, Cora Mae and one brother, Kenneth.

Selzer's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Selzler, 1107 Central avenue, Newport, said Thursday they still had not been informed of the circumstances surrounding the soldiers' death. The Army had notified them Monday that he was seriously ill. A graduate of Newport High School, Pvt. Selzer had been in the service six months.
