DEATH

Michael Purcell, 47, of 518 East Fourth st. Newport, died at College Hill Sanitarium yesterday where he was taken for treatment several weeks ago. His condition did not improve and he slowly wasted away until death relieved his suffering.

Purcell was one of the best known men in Newport where he had resided nearly all his life. He was a member of Newport Lodge of Elks, which organization will take action on his death. For many years he was prominent in sporting circles and had a host of friends who will mourn his loss.

He was single and resided with his mother until her death about a year ago.

NEWPORT

The body of M E Purcell well known Newport Elk, who died Thursday night in Cincinnati was brought to the residence of his cousin, John Leahy, 224 West Ninth st. Newport. The funeral will take place Monday morning at 9 am at the Immaculate Conception Church. The Newport Lodge of Elks will hold services tomorrow afternoon at the residence.

FUNERAL

Services over the remains of Michael Purcell were held yesterday afternoon by members of the Newport Lodge of Elks, in the residence of J J Leahey, 224 West Ninth st. The funeral was held this morning at 9 am with requiem high mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception.

John J Leahey, as administrator of the estate of Mike Purcell, was yesterday served with notice of the contest filed by Eliza Wiley, claimed to be a natural daughter of the deceased. Mrs. Wiley wants the appointment of Leahey set aside and a curator appointed to manage the estate until such time as the Federal Courts settle the suit filed there by her.
