Nathan Berry and Jane Calloway, both colored, were granted a marriage license in Newport yesterday.

In the Newport Criminal Court yesterday John Heiser was found guilty of grand larceny for stealing a lot of rope from a wrecking car on the Shortline Road, and was sentenced to one year in the penitentiary.

The merchants of Newport have decided to resist the enforcement of the Russell law against them in Cincinnati and have employed Messrs. Ramsey & Matthews of that place and Mr. James C Wright, of Newport as counsel.

SUBSCRIPTIONS for the Orphan's Feast, which will be given on St Josephs Orphan Asylum grounds, Monday June 2, were being solicited in Covington and Cincinnati yesterday by Messrs. Ben Becker, G Jansen, D Selhorst and Felix Fritz, a committee appointed for that purpose.  The beer donations for yesterday amounted to 103 kegs.

Hon and Mrs. Isaac Lawrence of Newport are visiting relatives in this city (Covington).
