Word was received in Newport of the death of Mrs. Clara Heck, former well known resident here, which occurred in Detroit Mich. Decedent was a sister of Nicholas Blank, Newport druggist. She was married to J A Heck and the fueral will take place tomorrow at 8 am with services at St Stephen Church.

Coroner James Digby late Tuesday decided death was due to apoplexy in the case of Mrs. Anna Blank, 72, mother of Nicholas Blank, Newport druggist, who died suddenly late Tuesday when preparing supper. Her daughters, Hannah and Louise Blank, were present when their mother was stricken.

There was one drugstore in Newport Saturday night where customers were getting cigars without money. The pharmacy was that of Nicholas J Blank Jr. at 10th and Isabella streets. While refusing money, "Nick" explained Mrs. Blank had presented him with a 8 1/2 pound boy. Attaches of Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, report mother and son doing well.

Charged with stealing wine from the pharmacy of Nicholas Blank Jr. 10th and Isabella Streets, Jerry O'Brien was held for grand jury investigation. Mr. Blank charged four bottles of wine were stolen by the defendant several days ago. Thursday night he is alleged to have returned after using the telephone seized a bottle of wine. Mr. Blank caught hime and held him until the arrival of the police.

Nicholas Blank Sr. druggist, narrowly escaped death when his auto skidded on the ice covered wagon bridge at the head of Central avenue, Newport, and crashed through the railing. The auto came to a stop after the front wheels crashed through the railing. The front wheels were suspended in the air. Had the car not stopped it would have dropped 50 feet to the railroad tracks.

Nicholas J Blank Sr. widely known northern Kentucky druggist and president of the Hale-Justis Drug Co. Cincinnati, was in critical condition Thursday at St Luke Hospital, Ft Thomas. Mr. Blank, who is 81, underwent a major operation Wednesday. He lives at 17 Washington aveune, Ft Thomas.

Born in Newport, Mr. Blank operated drug stores in Ft Thomas and Newport for many years before turning their management over to his son, Nicholas Blank Jr. His Ft Thomas store is at 38 N Ft Thomas avenue. The Newport store is at 10th and Isabella streets.

Services have been set for Saturday for Nicholas J Blank Sr. 81, widely known northern Kentucky druggist and president of Hale-Justis Drug Co. Cincinnati, who died Wednesday night at St Luke Hospital, Ft Thomas. Solemn Requiem High Mass will be sung at 10 am at St Therese Church, Southgate, following prayers at 9:30 am at the Dobbling funeral home, Ft Thomas, where friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Friday. Burial will be in St Stephen Cemetery, Ft Thomas.

Mr. Blank was a member of the Veterans Apothecary Association which is limited to 25 members with at least 25 years experience in the drug business. He also was a member for years of the Ohio Valley Druggists Association, the National Association of Retail Druggists and the Holy Name Society of St Therese Church. The Holy Name Society will meet at 8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

The Hale-Justis firm was established in 1874 as a partnership. Mr. Blank was named a director in 1919 when the business was purchased and incorporated. He became vice president in 1929 and president in 1947. His home was at 17 Washington avenue, Ft Thomas.  Mr. Blank, formerly active in philanthropic endeavors, had turned over operation of his three retail drug stores to two daughters and a son. All four (sic) are registered pharmacists.

He is survived by one son, Nicholas J, Cold Spring, who now operates the pharmacies in Newport and Ft Thomas; the two daughters, Mrs. Rose Baumgartner, wife of Ray, proof reader for the Post of Ft Thomas; and Mrs. Dorothy Lonneman, Ft Thomas, who with her husband, Robert, operates a drug store on Holman street, Covington and 10 grandchildren. HIs wife, Mrs. Rose Blank, died in 1951.
