Alexandria Deed Book N, page 381, recorded 12 November 1838

Indenture made 12 November 1838 between James Taylor Junior, of the County of Campbell & of the Commonwealth of Kentucky by her agent Napoleon B Buford, Resident Engineer of the Licking River Navigation of the other part. James for and in consideration of the sum of $400, sells All that lot of ground in the East bank of the Licking River, in the County of Campbell, at the Three Mile Ripple & upon which the said Engineer has marked out for construction Lock Number One of the said navigation in begin in the ford of a rectangle of 100 feet by 900 feet.

James Jr. together with Susan B Taylor, the wife of the said James.

Alexandria Deed Book N, page 401, recorded 20 November 1838

Indenture made 20 November 1838 between Richard Southgate of Newport of the 1st part and the Commonwealth of Kentucky by her agent N B Buford, Resident Engineer of the Licking River navigation of the 2nd part.

Richard for one cent and the advantage he the said Southgate will probably derive from the construction of Locks and Dams on the Licking River, sell all that parcel of land lying on the East bank of the Licking River at Dutchman's Ripple in the County of Campbell on which Lock No 3 of the Licking river navigation has been laid out for construction by the said engineer, containing 8 1/3 acres.
