After 50 years of service in Newport, the Wilhelmi Pharmacy will observe its "grand opening" on Monday. The pharmacy, founded in 1902 by the late George Wilhelmi, was a fixture for almost a half century. The store was located at the southeast corner of 10th and Monmouth streets. Unable to renew the lease on the old location, George Holz Wilhelmi, son of the late pharmacist and his mother, Mrs. Rosa Wilhelmi, who is the oldest pharmacist on record in Kentucky, procured their new location at 918-20 Monmouth street.

The Wilhelmi pharmacy was founded in 1902 when the late George Wilhelmi purchased the business from Gus Holzhauer, from whom he had worked for a number of years. In the new location, the founder's widow, Rosa, will continue an active interest in the business with her son, George and the latter's wife, Mrs. Marie Wilhelmi. The new pharmacy will be one of the most modern and complete drug stores in this area, they said.
